SPICCAYYYYYY

I love spices. They are a great way to boost flavor without the extra calories and fat. But whats even better? Spices pack a serious NUTRITIONAL AND HEALTH PUNCH.

The winners?

1. Cinnamon: helps to balance blood sugar and prevent type 2 diabetes
2. Cloves: serves as an anti-inflammatory
3. Cumin: helps to prevent cancer
4. Tumeric: is believed to prevent Alzheimer's
5. Garlic: is an antioxidant that serves as a natural antibiotic (who cares if you smell-you gotta do what you gotta do)

While were on the topic of spices, I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to give you a recipe with my FAVORITE SPICE: cinnamon.

My girl Oprah supplied this picture. Yeah, we did some cooking together today.

Cinnamon roasted almonds:
4 cups whole almonds
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp water
1 egg white
1/4 tsp salt
1 tbsp cinnamon

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Spray a cooking pan with cooking spray. Beat the egg white and slowly add  the 1 tsp of water and beat again until its a little bit frothy. Add almonds to the bowl.

Combine the sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Coat the almonds with the mixture so each one is in a blanket of cinnamoney goodness. Bake for about 45 minutes. ENJOY!
